Story By: SHAWN BROUSE / WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY – MECHANICSBURG, PA – The first appearance of the season by the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series at Williams Grove Speedway is just two weeks away!
Slated for Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13, the H & N Landscaping World of Outlaws Morgan Cup Weekend is on tap.
Run in honor of former track owner Morgan Hughes, Saturday night’s event will go 30 laps for a $12,000 payday plus another $5,000 for Morgan Cup bragging rights.
Friday’s main will be 25 laps in distance and pay the winner $10,000.
Last year in the Morgan Cup, Brent Marks took the win in the only show of the weekend that was completed.
His win meant that the Morgan Cup trophy itself would again find its way back home to the offices of Williams Grove Speedway, where it has taken up residence until this season when the home of the trophy is again decided with another running of the contest.
An outlaws win in the Morgan Cup this time around would mean that the trophy will trek southwards for a year to take up residence at circuit headquarters in North Carolina.
California’s Carson Macedo is the current outlaws point leader, holding sway over David Gravel and Brad Sweet.
Gravel has the most wins on the tour to date with four under his belt.
Freddie Rahmer is the current Williams Grove point leader.
Action both nights of the 2023 Morgan Cup weekend gets underway at 7:30 pm.
Adult general admission for May 12 is $30 with students ages 13-20 admitted for just $15.
Prices for May 13 are $35 for adults and $15 for students.
Kids ages 12 and under are always free at Williams Grove Speedway.
