Story By: BRETT DEYO / UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY – VERNON, NY – A line of showers that hovered over Utica-Rome Speedway for nearly two hours nixed Friday night’s ‘$5 Friday’ program at the Home of Heroes.
Cars and fans were filing into the Vernon facility when unpredicted rainfall began at approximately 4:30 p.m. With rain still falling at the saturated facility, management pulled the plug after 6 p.m.
All pit and grandstand wristbands will be honored at face value for the remainder of the 2023 season.
The “$5 Friday” promotion has been rescheduled for May 19.
Racing resumes next Friday, May 12 when Christian Fabrication and Scenic View Campground present the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) 360 Sprint Cars for the first time in ’23 plus 3 Bastards Brewing Modifieds, Worthington Industries Crate 602 Sportsman, Next Generation GraphiX Pro Stocks, Fastline Performance Limited Sportsman and Fonda Fair Four Cylinders.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:45 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $22 for Adults, $20 for Seniors (ages 65 and up), with Kids 11 and under admitted FREE. Pit admission is $40 (ages 13 and up), $35 (NASCAR or Utica-Rome Members), $10 Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 for Children ages 5 and under.
