Story By: JEFFREY AHLUM / GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY – BECHTELSVILLE, PA – Enough already with the rain!
For the third time in the last four weeks, rain has caused Grandview Speedway officials to cancel the scheduled NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series race program for Saturday night on the one-third-of-a-mile high banked speedway.
The rain started overnight continuing all morning long, and was forecast to last until race time in the evening, leaving track officials not much of a choice but to call off the racing action for the third Saturday in the last four weekends.
The race program for May 18 was to include a two-division show for the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds and the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman, along with a make-up 30-lap Modified main event from the Saturday May 11th race program.
With this rain out, the upcoming schedule will be slightly adjusted to fit in the two features still held over from the May 11 race program, as next Saturday, May 25 will now see the presentation of TWO – T.P. Trailer 30-lap Modified feature races in the same evening.
The race program next Saturday, May 25 will be the traditional double header for the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds and T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman, including all qualifying events for both divisions leading into the 30-lap Modified main event and a 25-lap Sportsman feature race. The 30-lap T.P. Trailer Modified feature held-over from May 11 will be added to this show along with a feature event for the Outlaw Racing Series Vintage cars
All of this action will be conducted for the regular admission prices, with adult grandstand admission at $20, students 10-15 with ID are $10, while children ages 9 and under are admitted free of charge. Pit admission is $35 for NASCAR members and $45 for non-members.
Pit gates will open at 3:30 pm, with grandstand gates opening at 4:30 pm, warm-ups starting at 5:30 pm, and the first race of the evening getting the green flag at 6:30 pm.
The T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman feature which was held over from May 11, will be added to the Saturday, June 1 race event in addition to a completely new two-division program of T.P. Trailer Modifieds and T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman.
The final race for the month of May will be the first Thunder on the Hill Racing Series program of the year as Levan Machine & Truck Equipment presents the RichMar Florist Midweek Money Series Kubota High Limit Racing 410 Sprint Cars on Tuesday, May 28 starting at 7:30 pm with a rain date of Wednesday, May 29.
The program will feature the PA Posse drivers vs. Kyle Larson and The High Rollers participating in time trials and qualifying races leading into the 35-lap $20,000 to win feature race.
Adult grandstand tickets are $40, children 6-11 are $20, while kids 5 and under are free. Pit admission is $45, and no license is required.
