Story By: DINO OBERTO / EVERGREEN RACEWAY – BUTLER TOWNSHIP, PA – Evergreen Raceway was very much looking forward to a great weekend, and they still are, but only one of the two days looks to get in.
Tomorrow, Saturday April 12, the track was all set to host an Anything Swap Meet/Flea Market, the Evergreen Food Truck Fare and Evergreen Circle Track Driving Experience plus hold an open practice.
That, unfortunately, will not happen due to an unfavorable weather forecast that is calling for rain and possibly snow. The track is looking for a possible open date in their schedule to have that event take place.
In the meantime, everything looks good for Sunday’s Winter Thaw being run under the direction of Rich Tobias. The Winter Thaw is part of the Action Track USA Extras which is a four-race series at Evergreen beginning with Sunday’s event.
The ALL PRO SpeedSTRs and Slingshots will be sharing the race card along with the 602 Crate Modifieds, Street Stocks and 4-Cylinders.
The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies and temperatures in the uppers 50s on Sunday.
Pit gates will open at 11:30 am and grandstands at 12:30 pm. Hot laps start at 1:00 pm and opening ceremonies get underway at 2:00 pm. Adult grandstand admission is $15, students aged 6-12 are $13 and kids five and under are free. Pit admission is $40.
