Story By: PJ PETERSEN / F&F RACING – PLACERVILLE, CA – Spending two nights at Placerville Speedway over the past weekend, Chance Grasty and the F&F Racing team continue to mesh and show speed as they finished ninth on Friday night before a late mistake knocked them out of a battle for the lead on Saturday.
“Really bummed that I couldn’t get a good finish for the guys on Saturday night after a really hard working weekend,” Chance Grasty said. “We have really good car speed and I feel like we get better with each week.”
Friday night, the Suisun, CA driver timed the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts, Sierra Single Ply Roofing backed No. x1 entry in seventh fastest in his qualifying flight, which put him in the third starting position for heat race competition.
finishing fourth in the heat, Grasty was locked into the feature event as he took the green flag from the 15th starting position. On an extremely slick racing surface, Grasty was able to carve his way forward as he turned in some impressive laps and climbed his way towards the Top-10.
Getting into the Top-10, Grasty capped the Nor Cal Posse Shootout opener off with a ninth place finish.
Back at the track on Saturday night for the finale, Grasty got off to a great start as he earned fast time honors in qualifying time trials and set himself up for the rest of the night.
Finishing third in his heat race for the fourth starting position, Grasty locked into the Dash where the win put him on the pole for the 35-lap feature event.
Following a quick track prep session, the field was shown the green flag and the feature event was on. As the race came to life, Grasty settled into second as he chased after fellow front row starter, Ryan Bernal who was able to get the jump out of the gate.
With Bernal setting a torrid pace early in the feature, Grasty was able to pace him as the leaders got into traffic amidst a green flag run that lasted for 27 laps.
As the duo continued to battle in traffic, Grasty got close to the leader on a few occasions but couldn’t quite get by.
On the 26th lap, Grasty got up over the cushion in turns three and four which ultimately caused him to come to a stop on the 27th lap and bring his night to an end.
“We were really good in Saturday’s feature, but I just made a mistake pushing it amidst a pretty good battle for the lead in traffic,” Grasty added. “Big thanks to Alan, Tooch, Dan, and everyone that continues to help our team for continuing to work hard.”
