Story By: BEN SHELTON / DRAKE TROUTMAN RACING – HYNDMAN, PA – Drake Troutman has been winning early and often during the first few months of the 2023 season, and he continued his ways over the weekend with a pair of victories aboard the Jerry Foster Racing / CertainTeed No. 5 ABC Supply Co. / All About Doors / Longhorn Chassis Modified.
He topped the competition at Bedford Speedway on Friday evening before rolling to Victory Lane on Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway as his win total on the year grew to nine.
“We had a great weekend in both the Modified and the Late Model. We scored a couple of Top-5 finishes in the Late Model and got two wins in the Modified. I’ll take that kind of weekend, anytime,” Troutman said. “This week we are focusing on the Late Model with five big days of racing. We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of fans this week, and hopefully coming away with some solid finishes to show for our efforts.”
Drake Troutman got an early start to his race weekend with a trip to Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, Del.) on Thursday afternoon to compete in the Super Late Model division for the Mark ‘Coot’ Williams Memorial.
With a runner-up finish in his heat race lining him up on the third row for the $3,026-to-win A-Main, Drake clawed forward one spot in the 26-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. He followed Ross Robinson, Tyler Emory, and Bryan Bernheisel across the line with Deshawn Gingerich coming in fifth.
Pulling double duty in his Late Model and the Jerry Foster-owned Modified on Friday at Bedford (Pa.) Speedway, Troutman followed up a Modified heat race victory with a runner-up finish in his Late Model heat race.
Dominating from the pole in the Modified A-Main, Troutman soared to his eighth win of the season, which came ahead of Michael Altobelli Jr., Mitch Thomas, George Dixon, and Donnie Farlling. He charged forward five positions in the 25-lap Late Model feature to place third.
In only the Modified ranks on Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.), Drake grabbed his second win in as many nights in the feature. After topping his time trial group, Troutman charged from the third-starting position into the lead near the halfway point, en route to his ninth win of the 2023 campaign.
Troutman is now set for an uber-busy week of Super Late Model racing. Festivities kick off on Tuesday and Wednesday with back-to-back $23,023-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America events at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) and Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway.
On Friday the team thunders into Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) for the 2023 season opener before rolling into Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, Ohio) for a Weekly Racing Series Event. After a one-day break on Saturday the five-day swing draws to a close at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, W.Va.).
