The George Williams Memorial has been a traditional event at the historic Steuben County Facility for decades. Ole’ George as he was referred to was the original designer and promoter of the track. He along with his two sons, Jim and Bob carved the high banked one-third of a mile clay oval out of family owned farm land.

At the time when most others were retiring, Williams was just getting started as he was in his mid-60’s when he opened the gates. From there Ole’ George was one of the most recognizable faces at many dirt track venues that he frequented and when he passed away, Williams left behind a legacy that will not be duplicated.
