Story By: RYAN DELPH / CONLEY MOTORSPORTS – WHEELERSBURG, OH – Rod Conley and his #71R team invaded Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio on Saturday night, May 20 for the 41st edition of the ‘Jim Dunn Memorial.’
The XR Workin’ Man Series presided over the single-day shootout, which boasted a $10,000 winner’s check.
Rod timed in sixth quickest in Group B during qualifying prior to finishing fourth in his loaded heat race and second in his B-Main. After rolling off from the outside of the tenth row in the 50-lap main event, “Hot Rod” was able to pick off seven competitors en route to a thirteenth place performance.
After enjoying last weekend off from racing action, R.J. Conley will be the lone CMI driver in competition over the busy Memorial Day holiday weekend. The nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio will lift the lid to their 2023 schedule on Saturday, May 27 and the Wheelersburg, Ohio ace will be racing for a $2,000 payday. R.J. then plans to make a rare visit to Mudlick Valley Raceway in Wallingford, Kentucky on Sunday, May 28 for the ‘Owens Stephens & Sam Gilbert Memorial Race,’ which boasts a $5,034 top prize.
