Close Battle Results In Third Brockville Win For Bobby Herrington & Dawdy Racing

Story By: TIM BALTZ / DAWDY RACING – BROCKVILLE, ONT – Bobby Herrington like all drivers this past Saturday, were tired of seeing races getting canceled due to Mother Nature’s antics. This past Saturday at the Brockville Ontario Speedway, the weather was perfect and Bobby was ready to chase another checkered flag.

The night kicked off with a solid performance in the qualifying heat event. Bobby cruised to the win in the 8-lap contest, his third heat win of the season. Due to the win and his spot in the points, Bobby would have his work cut out as he would start on the outside of row number 6 in the 17-car field.

Bobby’s march to the front in the Kim and Dan Dawdy owned number 88Z was steady, as Bobby got to the top 5 within the first 10 laps of the event. In front of him fellow Kingston area natives Jessica Power and Xavier Andrews were moving forward with Andrews taking the lead from Domonick Merkley on lap 16. Bobby would then move to second a few laps later, setting up an exciting finish.

Herrington would pull even with Andrews with 5 laps left to go but Andrews fought hard to keep the 88Z at bay. On lap 23 Herrington made the pass that counted off the top of turn 4, to grab the race lead.

Once in front it was no contest, as Bobby would drive on to score his division leading third win of the season and 23rd career DIRTCar Sportsman win, good for fourth on the all-time Brockville win list. Herrington was also one of three Kingston area drivers to finish in the top 4 with Andrews second and Jessica Power in fourth.

Heading into this weekend, Herrington finds himself in another familiar spot, as he sits atop the points standings once again, with a 48-point lead on Brennan Moore.

The driver of the Kim and Dan Dawdy owned #88Z thanks everyone for their continued support, as the team heads back to Brockville this weekend, to continue to chase more checkered flags. Bobby will be looking to grab his 3rd win in a row and fourth overall in 2023, as the team chases a third consecutive Brockville Sportsman title.
