Story By: CHRIS MOORE / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – BLOOMSBURG, PA – Paulie Hartwig III took home his first career Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco win on Thursday night at Pa.’s Bloomsburg Fair Raceway.
The Galloway, N.J., native raced from the sixth starting spot following the Beyea Custom Headers Redraw to take home the $1,500 victory in Round No. 3 of the Precision Hydraulic & Oil North Region.
The young teenager used a lap-seven restart to drive around Spencertown, N.Y.’s Dylan Madsen and race away with his first career STSS victory and his fourth of the season at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds.
The opening seven laps of the affair were plagued with yellows. Hartwig however, was undeterred.
The youngster picked cars off at each restart, until the lap-seven opportunity arose to take the lead.
From there, the race fired off caution free, allowing Hartwig to coast his way to the win and into Bicknell Racing Products Victory Lane.
Lehighton, Pa.’s Brandon Edgar settled for second after charging from ninth and Dylan Madsen rounded out the top three.
Upper Makefield, Pa.’s Joe Toth took home fourth, moving into the lead in the Precision Hydraulic & Oil North Region standings. Pottsville, Pa.’s. Kevin Olenick rounded out the top five.
Finishing sixth through 10th, respectively, were Campbell, N.Y.’s Carter Crooker; Lake Ariel, Pa.’s Tyler Peet; Taylor, Pa.’s Mike Loney; Orangeville, Pa.’s. Matt Yoder; and Fair Haven, Vt.’s Justin Comes rounded out the top ten.
Thirty-one STSS Crate 602 Sportsman signed in to compete at Bloomsburg Fair Raceway.
Loney, Madsen, Yoder, and Toth all won heat races while Ralph Mele won the consolation event.
Next up for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By Sunoco is the first of two trips to N.Y.’s Fonda Speedway for the ‘Firecracker 50’ on Monday, July 17. The STSS Modifieds race in Round No. 5 of the River Valley Builders North Region for 50-laps and a $10,000 payday. The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman join the program for Round No. 4 of the Precision Hydraulic & Oil North Region for a 25-lap, $2,000-to-win feature.
