Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / GREG WILSON RACING – BENTON RIDGE, OH – It was an up and down week in the Buckeye State for Greg Wilson and Greg Wilson Racing, and despite a few evenings that resulted in outcomes short of A-Main qualification, the former All Star Circuit of Champions champion out of Benton Ridge, Ohio, shined when it was most important, ultimately highlighting sprint car racing’s biggest week with a feature start in Eldora Speedway’s Eldora Million on Thursday, July 13.
Wilson, driver of the Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics Warehousing and Transportation, SandRidge Customs, Banshee Graphics, CJMM, No. W20 sprint car, finished 15th in his Eldora Million attempt, qualifying for the $1,002,023-to-win program with a third-place finish during his respective heat race.
Wilson’s recent Eldora Speedway campaign concluded with Saturday’s 40th running of the Kings Royal awarding $175,000-to-win. Unfortunately, the former full-time Outlaw was unable to qualify.
“To qualify for such a prestigious event is pretty special. It was the biggest paying event in our sport’s history and to say we were a part of it is something we’ll always be proud of,” Greg Wilson stated. “It was a long, up and down week, but I’m proud of our team and I’m proud of everyone’s hard work. It’s been a tough year, but the work continues to pay off. We’ll keep moving forward.”
Greg Wilson and Greg Wilson Racing will continue their 2023 campaign with an All Star Circuit of Champions weekend in Illinois beginning with Spoon River Speedway’s inaugural NOS Energy Drink presents The Rumble on the River on Saturday, July 22, followed by a visit to Red Hill Raceway in Sumner, Illinois, on Sunday, July 23. Each of the stops in the Land of Lincoln will award $8,000 top prizes.
