R.J. Conley Claims Top Five In Dustbuster 40; CMI Prepares For Portsmouth

Story By: RYAN DELPH / CONNLEY MOTORSPORTS – WHEELERSBURG, OH – It was a big doubleheader weekend on July 21-22 in the Buckeye State for Conley Motorsports, Inc.

Last Friday night in the $6,000 to win ‘Dustbuster 40’ at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio, R.J. Conley laid down the fastest lap in Group B during qualifying, won his heat race for an extra $1,000, and later placed fourth in the 40-lapper behind only winner Josh Rice, Nick Hoffman, and Zack Dohm. Rod Conley ran second in his heat race and thirteenth in the unsanctioned A-Main.

At Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on Saturday evening in a $7,500 to win Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series contest, R.J. won his heat race and was running third in the 40-lap main event until he lost a bout with the concrete wall. After pitting to make repairs, the Wheelersburg, Ohio native rebounded to salvage a seventh place finish. Rod placed fourth in his heat race, but had vaulted to the third spot in the feature until a flat tire ultimately dropped him to a ninth place effort.

The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams will return to racing action on Saturday, July 29 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. A weekly Super Late Model show is planned for tomorrow night at PRP and Rod and R.J. Conley will both gun for the $2,000 winner’s check.
