Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRIAN BROWN RACING – GRAIN VALLEY, MO – Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing battled the best in the business Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and despite missing the top-ten in each of their National Open attempts, highlighting the weekend with a 14th-place score in Friday’s preliminary main event, “Blackjack” is pleased with his team’s overall performance, already looking ahead to a massive campaign at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace.”
Friday’s preliminary feature was actually contested Saturday after the weekend finale, Mother Nature being the culprit.
“Williams Grove is ‘Williams Grove’ for us…very, very hard,” Brian Brown stated. “We were proud to put ourselves in the show both nights of the National Open, especially with a solid field of 50 or so cars. Just couldn’t find the consistency that we needed and it was tough to find our comfort level. When you mix those two, it can make things difficult. We just need to be better.”
Before finishing 14th in the National Open preliminary make-up feature, Brown, ace of the Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, HAWK Hunting, Ditzfeld Transfer, No. 21 sprint car, competed in the $75,000-to-win National Open finale main event, eventually scored 20th after starting 16th on the A-Main grid. The Higginsville, Missouri, native, who now calls Grain Valley home, qualified for the 40-lapper by finishing fourth during heat race competition; he started sixth.
“We’re looking forward to turning the page and returning to Port Royal Speedway,” Brown continued. “My guys – Chad, JB, and Dad – had a great attitude the entire weekend, and win, lose, or draw, they’re always proud and ready to do it all again.”
