Bayston & CJB Motorsports Fight Early Night Issues To Finish 12th In KC; Texas On Deck

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / CJB MOTORSPORTS – CARLISLE, PA – Despite losing Friday’s visit to 81 Speedway in Wichita due to unsafe conditions as the result of high winds, the show went on as planned Saturday night at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, and although some early evening power plant issues hurt the team’s momentum, Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports recovered rapidly and nearly capped the Harvest Rumble with another Series top-ten.

Bayston, ace of the TrueTimber Camo, Rothco, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car, finished 12th in his visit to Kansas City, earning his place in the 25-lap main event with a fourth-place score during heat race competition.

As noted, early evening power plant issues plagued CJB Motorsports, ultimately forced to change engines just before qualifying time trials. The Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based World of Outlaws team made the switch and still managed to record the tenth fastest time overall.

“Hurting a motor in hot laps led to an eventful night at Lakeside,” Bayston stated. “We thrashed to get the motor changed in time for qualifying, and despite the rush, we still managed to lay down a pretty good time. Regardless, I still think we had a top-ten car, but I needed to run a better race and make better decisions throughout the feature. We’re already looking ahead to Texas and we’ll work to improve our performances.”

Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a two-day stay at the iconic Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, on Friday and Saturday, October 20-21. Dubbed Sprint Car Stampede, the weekend showcase will be the final event at Devil’s Bowl, ever.
