Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing may not have been on top in the season-ending World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina, but the ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion and 2023 Kings Royal champion did the next best thing and rallied big in two of his three attempts including a Hard Charging performance on Friday, November 3.
Schatz, ace of the Advance Auto Parts, Carquest, Ford Performance, MadJax XSeries, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Absolute Automation and Security, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, Mobil 1, Hoosier Racing Tires, VP Racing Fuels, GEARWRENCH, No. 15 sprinter, started 25th in his Hard Charge on Friday night, rallying 12 spots to finish 13th in the final rundown. In actuality, Schatz’ rally through the field was just as impressive one night prior, commencing Thursday’s World Finals A-Main from 21st on the starting grid before finishing tenth at the final checkers. Although an 11-spot charge, Roth Motorsports’ James McFadden was able to make additional progress earning Thursday’s Hard Charger Award.
Donny Schatz and TSR would race on to cap the World of Outlaws World Finals with a 13th-place finish in the 25-lap, $25,000-to-win finale on Saturday, November 4, helping the Brownsburg, Indiana-based program finish sixth in the final World of Outlaws standings. The team’s effort was padded by 43 top-ten scores including four victories, one of which the aforementioned Kings Royal title. In addition, the Fargo, North Dakota, native was victorious during Knoxville Nationals preliminary competition on Wednesday, August 9, accomplishing his most recent triumph with the Greatest Show On Dirt at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, on October 14.
