Story By: BEN SHELTON / WILD WEST SHOOTOUT – VADO, NM – Less than two months remain on the calendar until the 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts roars to life at FK Rod Ends Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park.
The 2024 mega miniseries includes complete programs for Super Late Models, Modifieds, and X-Mods on Jan. 6, 7, 10, 12, 13, and 14.
The Dirt Track Bank Super Late Models presented by Black Diamond Racecars have a great cast of marketing partners supporting the event and adding serious cash to the payouts.
Dirt Track Bank once again returns as the title sponsor for the event with Black Diamond Racecars continuing their long-tenured support of the event with presenting sponsor accolades. Black Diamond Racecars will also be the nightly sponsor of heat race interviews.
Rio Grande Waste Services not only is the event title sponsor, but they also sponsor a bevy of Super Late Model awards, including the nightly $500 Hard Charger, and the $1,000 “Shock the Clock Challenge” for the fastest overall qualifier of the week.
The Larry Henk owned entity also sponsors the nightly Start and Restart Zone as well as the $25,000-to-win Super Late Model finale, which is presented by Minnesota’s Shaw Trucking once again.
Meanwhile, Penske Racing Shocks returns to the party as the title sponsor of the Penske Shocks Paydirt Jackpot Bonus. If a driver can win all six Dirt Track Bank Super Late Model features presented by Black Diamond Race Cars, he or she will receive a $300,000 bonus as part of the Penske Racing Shocks $300,000 Paydirt Jackpot.
The bonus program offers a $100,000 incentive for five wins or a $25,000 bonus for four miniseries victories during the January 6-14, 2024 mega miniseries at the state-of-the-art New Mexico oval. A Super Late Model driver able to sweep the week by winning five $10,000-to-win features, the $25,000 finale, the $300,000 Penske Bonus, and the $3,000 point fund would depart the desert with over $378,000.
New to the party is Swift Springs, who will sponsor the nightly Super Late Model $100 Fast Time Award, with the accolade presented by event stalwart Screven Motor Speedway.
Gorsuch Performance Solutions is the nightly sponsor of the Super Late Model Pole Award, which is drawn by a lucky driver during the Schaeffer’s Oil Redraw. The driver, who pulls the coveted pole position each night will receive a Gorsuch Performance Solutions Max Air 6-Blade Fan, valued at $209.
Led by the husband-and-wife duo of Bill and Josie Schlieper, the Pro Power Dash returns on Jan. 6, 7, and 13. The Last Chance Race for the Super Late Model contingent offers a $1,000 winner’s check or the ability to forfeit the winnings and start on the tail of the night’s main event. Presenting sponsors of the dashes include Callies, Dan Olson Racing Products, Dyer’s Top Rods, Jones Racing Products, Manley, and RaceTec Pistons.
Last but not least, each race will come to the C&D Bonding Green Flag with stops in the action coined as the Midwest Sheet Metal Caution Flags. The ultimate goal of all racers will be to reach the Hoker Trucking Victory Lane.

Over $320,000 in prize money will be on the line during the 18th Annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts on Jan. 6 – 14 at FK Rod Ends Vado Speedway Park. The event includes six complete programs for three divisions.
Each night finds the Dirt Track Bank Super Late Models presented by Black Diamond Race Cars, Mesilla Valley Transportation/ Border Tire Modifieds presented by Rancho Milagro, and RHRSwag.com X-Mods competing in action.
Additionally, an open practice session is slated for both January 5 and January 9.
Last but not least, each division will compete for a miniseries point’s championship and accompanying point fund.
