Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Terry and Niki Brewer of the Woodhull Raceway are pleased to announce the release of the tracks 2024 schedule of events.
“Our plan this season was to really work hard to get the schedule out to the racers and fans prior to Jan. 1, 2024. Terry Pierce and Becky Stewart of Southern Tier Customs collaborated diligently with us in making this all happen in a timely manner.” That according to the Brewers of Woodhull who will begin their fifth season at the helm of the popular Steuben County oval.
When looking at the Woodhull schedule card many of the nights of action show traditional events that drivers and fans can count on each season including numerous special high dollar events for all the weekly divisions along with King of the Ring one on one events for all the adult classes which are sprinkled throughout the race season.
ESS 360 Sprints, CRSA 305 Sprints, IMCA Modified’s, Vintage Cars and Empire Street Stocks are just a few of the tour divisions that will visit the high banked one third of a mile clay oval and it all begins with the Annual Swarthout Recycling sponsored Arnot Mall Car Show in Big Flats, NY on the weekend of March 22-24 followed by a pair of practice sessions at the track on Saturday April 6 and 13, 2024.
Then Woodhull will swing the gates for the season lid lifter on April 20 featuring the first Super 7 Show of the year including the new weekly Quad C Division which is a mix of both Front and Rear Wheel Driven Mini Stocks.
The track will then wrap up April with the first Modified Special event of the campaign paying the winner of the 30 lap A-Main a nifty $2,500. All other weekly classes will be on the April 27 card.
May opens with a RUSH Crate Late Model $1,200 to win special in conjunction with all regular divisions. A pair of regular weekly shows will follow on May 11 and 18 before the Annual George Williams Memorial, $2,500 to win Modified Special helps celebrate the Memorial Day Weekend.
June will be a packed month with five Saturday’s dotting the calendar. Autograph Night and the Ted Morseman Tribute open things up on June 1 followed by a quartet of Super 7 Shows including the first of two NY PENN IMCA Modified Events of the year on June 8. All new will be the North/South Hobby Stock Shootout pitting cars from Woodhull and Bradford, Pa. against each other in a four-event series on June 15. Mid-season double points will be on the line June 22 which also includes Race of Remembrance night where the track pays homage to all former drivers, fans and employees that are no longer with us. The following week will be what promises to be the biggest fan attended night of the year on Saturday, June 29 with the Annual Jim Williams Memorial Races, and the largest Fireworks Show in the Southern Tier Region.
The track will then take a well-deserved break allowing drivers, race teams, fans, and employees the opportunity to spend the July 4 activities with families and friends.
After the week-off, Woodhull will return with Regular Super 7 Shows in addition to a Ladies Powder Puff on July 13 along with Classics on Dirt Vintage Cars on the 20th which will include a visit from Santa Claus along with a huge bicycle give-away.
The famed 360 Empire Super Sprints in conjunction with a complete program will pull the curtain for the month on July 27, 2024.
The final North/South Hobby Stock Event will open August on the 3rd and then Woodhull will do a quick turnaround in preparation for the 3rd Annual Honoring Alice Night on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 featuring a $5,500 to win payday for the Might Modifieds run in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Darwin Davis RUSH CLM $4,000 to win show. The rapidly growing Empire Street Stock Touring Series will round out the trio of classes for the night as they will race for a winners take home check of $1,000. Named in honor of Woodhull’s First Lady, Alice Williams, the track will then hurry and regroup getting set for the August 10 Regular Super 7 Program making it three events in a seven-day span.
The CRSA 305 Sprints will make their first of two appearances at Woodhull on August 17 run in conjunction with a Regular Super 7 Show. Yet another tradition that Woodhull has been able to bring to the fans will be the Back-to-School Backpack Give-Away run in with a Regular Super 7 Show on Saturday, August 24.
The Classics on Dirt Vintage Stock Cars will wrap up August heading onto the Season Championship Point Finale September 7 where all the Regular Weekly Divisions will find their Champs crowned.
A trio of post season Saturday Nights will bring the 2024 Woodhull Raceway Season to a completion. The second and final appearance of the CRSA 305 Sprints will headline the September 14 night of great race action run in with a Super 7 Show. The high dollar Southern Tier Street Stock 100 will take center stage on September 21 as part of a Super 7 Show. Last season’s Woodhull 100 produced spectacular competition in a huge paying event including lap money which saw only one lone caution flag in the century long grind.
The final night of action on Saturday September 28 will end the fifty-ninth year of race activity at the Woodhull Raceway. The 602 Crate Sportsman take center stage with many of the region’s top competitors all gunning for the top prize of $2,500. Also running will be a 30 lap Hobby Stock Special named in memory of Allison Pierce who passed away recently. The Birdsall Family of Canisteo, NY will spearhead the season ending event with tons of lap money and other contingencies for this popular full fender division. The NYPENN IMCA Modified Tour will conclude not only Woodhull’s season, but that too of the NYPENN Association as the final checkered rag will fly for both operations bringing to a completion the 2024 campaign.
As always, the Woodhull Raceway Schedule of Events continues to be a work in progress with subtle tweaks coming prior to when the 2024 schedule goes to final print with hard copies available beginning on the weekend of the Arnot Mall Car Show in March.
