Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Finale Postponement Sets Up Double Weekend At Southern Raceway

Story By: BEN SHELTON / CRATE RACIN’ USA – MILTON, FL – With weekend forecasts calling for wet and cool weather, the $10,000-to-win Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Finale presented by Hunt the Front scheduled for this weekend at Southern Raceway has been postponed one week to Feb. 23-24.

The event will run in addition to the previously scheduled USCS Sprint Car doubleheader, setting up one of the biggest race weekends ever held at Southern Raceway with two complete Sprint Car programs as part of the USCS Winter Heat Series and a two-day show for Late Models that wraps up the Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout tour.

In addition to the Sprint Car and Late Model action, the weekend will also include two complete shows Friday and Saturday for both Modifieds and Street Stocks. The two $1,000-to-win Modified shows will be run under “Outlaw” Modified rules to accommodate multiple open-wheel Modified style cars.

Friday’s $700-to-win race and Saturday’s $1,000-to-win show for Street Stocks will be part of the inaugural North vs. South Street Stock Challenge. The unique event features the local Street Stock division using Crate Racin’ USA rules competing against IMCA-style Stock Cars coming into town early to tune up for the Clash on the Coast. Early arriving IMCA Modified racers are also expected to take part in the weekend’s Modified races.

The weekend will also include racing for Non-Wing Sprint Cars, Vintage Cars, Stingers, and Pure Stocks. Open practice is planned for Thursday. While the USCS Sprint Cars will run two complete programs both Friday and Saturday, Friday will only be preliminary racing for Crate Late Models with the $10,000-to-win Crate Late Model main event on Saturday. All of the weekend’s action will be streamed live on Hunt the Front TV.

Please also note that with this change the Crate Racin’ USA Late Model event will use Crate Racin’ USA’s standard $10,000-to-win payout instead of the previously announced $1,000-to-start payout.
