Schatz sixth in Jim Boyd Memorial opener; North Dakota and Minnesota all ahead

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Another World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series start resulted in another World of Outlaws top-ten performance for Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, this time finishing sixth in the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial opener at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, on Friday, May 31.

It was a consistent evening on the whole for the ten-time World of Outlaws champion, not only concluding competition with the aforementioned top-ten, but opening his evening with the sixth-fastest time of 31 entries, racing on to finish second in his respective heat race. Schatz eventually concluded all preliminary action third in the evening’s dash – his eventual A-Main starting position.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature, as she’s done so many times already in 2024, interfered with the Jim Boyd Memorial finale set for Saturday, June 1. The $20,000-to-win contest will now be hosted on Wednesday, July 10.

Donny Schatz and his Carquest, Advance Auto Parts, Ford Performance, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Elliott’s Custom Trailers & Carts, Mobil 1, Hoosier, VP Racing Fuels & Tub ‘O Towels, No. 15 sprint car will roll into the month of June on the back of 22 top-ten scores in 25 World of Outlaws A-Mains. The Fargo, North Dakota, native – who will visit River Cities Speedway in his next Series outing – is currently third in the WoO championship standings, trailing David Gravel and Big Game Motorsports by 58 markers.

Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing and Donny Schatz will continue their 2024 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with their first visits to North Dakota and Minnesota for 2024. First up is the Don Mack Classic at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, ND) on Friday, June 7, and then it’s over to Minnesota’s Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday, June 8.
