Woodhull Raceway Pulls Curtain On The Month Of June With Jim Williams Memorial

Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Historically the Jim Williams Memorial is the largest attended night of the season at the Woodhull Raceway.

Dating back to the late 1990’s when Scott and Amy Drake were proud owners of the historic Steuben County oval, the Jim Williams Memorial Fireworks Program has drawn curious on lookers from a twenty-five plus radius and its popularity continues today with 2024 being no exception.

“Jim Williams was a big lover of fireworks. He used to do everything himself and it was always a hit for the race fans. Even though he passed away in 2000 there have been many changes to the Fireworks Show with each of the previous track owners adding their own special twist. We have incorporated IPYRO into our current Fireworks Extravaganza which puts the entire program to music and there is something in the air every second.” That is according to current Woodhull Raceway owners, Terry and Niki Brewer.

The Williams Family built and owned the Woodhull Raceway for its first thirty-three years of operation prior to selling to The Drake’s. After a successful run as owners and promoters the Drakes then turned the keys over to Jersey Shora, Pa Businessman, Vern Wasson.

Both the Drake’s and Wasson each had an approximately 7 year run as owners.

Wasson then sold the facility to Westfield Businessman and Modified Car owner, Ted White who along with his wife Brandi operated the track before selling to current owners, Terry and Nikki Brewer of nearby Jasper NY.

The Brewer’s are now in their fifth year as owners.

Woodhull will celebrate its 60th Anniversary in 2025.

On the track it will be a Super 7 Show featuring all the weekly classes including the Insinger Performance Modifieds, Hometown Excavation 602 Crate Sportsman, Empire Crushing LLC RUSH Crate Late Models, Southern Tier Customs Street Stocks, Sawyer’s Camper and RV Service and Repair Hobby Stocks along with the Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s sponsored Quad C Mini Stocks and Youth Warrior Classes.

Pit gates open at 4:00 pm with main grandstand gates to follow at 4:30 pm at which time the Woodhull VFD Chicken BBQ will be available.

A trio of headline sponsors will be onboard to help market the Annual Jim Williams Memorial including B and H Log Hauling of Woodhull, Louie’s Gun Shop in Bath as well as TP’s Concrete and Construction of Hornell.
