Story By: DANNY LORTON / LUCAS OIL SPEEDWAY – WHEATLAND, MO – A heavy downpour immediately after qualifying with a strong thunderstorm soon following forced postponement of Saturday night’s Kubota High Limit Racing Diamond Classic at Lucas Oil Speedway.
Kubota High Limit Racing and Lucas Oil Speedway officials are searching for a viable makeup date later in the season.
Tickets will be good for the makeup date or equal value of any other event on the Lucas Oil Speedway schedule. Pit pass armbands are good for any event of equal value for 12 months.
Tyler Courtney of Indianapolis won the Kubota High Limit Series feature on Friday night, beating series points leader Brad Sweet.
Rico Abreu set a new track record on Saturday prior to the rain with a lap of 12.829 seconds during Qualifying Group B. Abreu, of St. Helena, Calif., displaced the previous mark of 12.998 held by Garet Williamson of Columbia, in the POWRi 410 Bandit Sprint Series on Aug. 19, 2023.
The Heartland Modified Tour also was scheduled to compete again on Saturday after Tyler Davis won Friday night’s USRA Modified feature.

Casey’s Thursday Night Thunder next: A big July 4th celebration is coming up on Thursday when Lucas Oil Speedway plays host to its annual Casey’s Thursday Night Thunder Kids’ Night at the Races Presented by State Tech.
All four of the Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series will be in action with a giant fireworks display following the racing action. A big highlight will be the Kids Bicycle Giveaway during intermission. The speedway is asking drivers, sponsors and race fans for help in donating new bicycles for youngsters ages 5-through-12 for the giveaway.
Those interested can bring bicycles to the speedway office during business hours or to the office before Thursday’s races. Cash donations which will be used for the purchase of bicycles also will be accepted.
The kids can sign up at the RCR Designs Jr Fan Club table before intermission for a chance to enter a drawing for the new bicycles of various sizes.
Grandstand gates open at 4:30 with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.
