Schatz Charges for top-five at Cedar Lake; Wisconsin trio to kick-off WoO July Campaign

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Friday’s festivities may have been washed away by Mother Nature, but Saturday went on as planned, as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series resumed their 2024 campaign with a visit to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin, on Saturday, June 29.

Donny Schatz, a ten-time World of Outlaws champion who is currently second in the 2024 title chase, concluded the Independence Spectacular with his 15th top-five of the season, doing so with a fourth-place result after starting from the outside of row five.

Impressive enough, the six-position charge was good enough to secure the Fargo, North Dakota, native the evening’s Hard Charger Award – given to the driver who advances the most feature positions. Schatz kicked-off preliminary competition with the tenth-fastest qualifying time overall, followed by a fourth-place finish during his respective heat race.

As noted, Schatz is currently second in the 2024 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship chase, trailing David Gravel by a mere 58 markers heading into a busy July slate. Schatz owns 27 top-ten appearances in 31 World of Outlaws contests, 15 of which within the top-five, as well as a pair of victories – his most recent in Pevely, Missouri.

ON DECK:
Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing and Donny Schatz will continue their 2024 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with an off weekend, followed by a trio of Badger State starts at Beaver Dam Raceway (July 10) and Wilmot Raceway (July 12-13).
