Saturated Grounds Force Cancellation Of Sunday’s RUSH Late Model Event At Eriez

Story By: MIKE LEONE / RUSH RACING SERIES – ERIE, PA – In a near repeat scenario of May 12, heavy rainfall that began Friday night and continued throughout the day on Saturday left the grounds at Eriez Speedway saturated, and coupled with cloudy and damp conditions throughout the day on Sunday as temps dropped into the 50s forced the cancellation of the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late Model Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Touring Series event. It marked the second time this season the Stateline-Eriez weekend for the Series was rained out.

While the Stateline Speedway “Bill Law Memorial” has been rescheduled for a second time this season to Saturday, July 20, it’s not expected Sunday’s show will be rescheduled. The Flynn’s Tire/Gunter’s Honey Tour will return to Eriez on Sunday, August 11 for “Manufacturers Night” presented by MSD Performance.

Up next will be a West Virginia doubleheader over the Independence Day holiday presented by Dave Poske’s Performance Parts. After losing the scheduled Flynn’s Tire/Guntrer’s Honey Touring Series opener on April 6 and April 13, Thursday the 4th will be the first appearance of the season at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne followed by the first ever RUSH-sanctioned event at Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington on Friday night. Both events will pay $4,000 to-win.
