Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TKS MOTORSPORTS – MITCHELLVILLE, IA – A winless weekend for the “Quickest Chicken” Chase Randall and TKS Motorsports, but the highlights were just as impressive, not only kicking off their holiday stretch on July 6-7 with a hard charge at the Sprint Car Capital of the World, but ultimately capping their campaign with a runner-up performance at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota.
The podium outcome was the team’s 11th top-five of the season, simultaneously increasing their top-ten total to 16.
As mentioned, Randall, ace of Troy Renfro’s Albaugh – Your Alternative, Iowa Barnstormers, Des Moines Industrial Products, Jersey Freeze Ice Cream, AL Driveline, TJ Forged, No. 2KS sprint car, earned Knoxville Raceway’s Hard Charger Award on Saturday, July 6, doing so with an impressive rally from 21st to finish 12th. Power plant issues during Randall’s heat race forced the Waco, Texas, native to the program’s B-Main; he raced on to win.
Randall’s Huset’s Speedway outing commenced with a heat race victory; he eventually started second on the feature grid. Additionally, the runner-up finish was Randall’s third of the year on the Huset’s highbanks.
“We’re always striving to do better, but we’re proud of our weekend results,” Troy Renfro stated. “For Chase to rebound like he did at Knoxville says so much about his ability and his focus. And our time will come at Huset’s Speedway. We were close again, just need to be a little bit better.”
TKS Motorsports and Chase Randall will continue their 2024 campaign with upcoming starts at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, and Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday, July 12-13.
