Brown in the hunt at Knoxville until flat; Knoxville, Eldora on horizon

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRIAN BROWN RACING – GRAIN VALLEY, MO – “Blackjack” Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing were well on their way to a Knoxville Raceway podium finish on Saturday, July 6, that until contact with the outside retaining wall – with just a handful of laps recorded – halted the Missouri native’s momentum.

Brown was battling for third when the accidental contact occurred; he started sixth and was ultimately scored 17th.

“That was my fault, not the wall’s fault…I shouldn’t have put myself in that position,” Brown, ace of the Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, Ditzfeld Transfer, Hawk Hunting, No. 21 sprint car, said. “It was a solid night up until that point, qualifying fourth to get the evening rolling, and we even had a great car in the heat. I honestly thought we had a car that could contend for a win. Got from sixth to third in the first lap or so. Got settled in there and that’s when I got myself a little too high and made contact with the backstretch wall.

“I really like how we are at Knoxville as a team,” Brown continued. “Our qualifying, heat race and feature packages are all solid and that should pay off in August. We’re looking forward to another great night at Knoxville before we head to Ohio for the Kings Royal.”

As mentioned, Brian Brown, a recent winner at the Sprint Car Capital of the World – the 66th of his career – will return to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, July 13. The Higginsville, Missouri, native will then turn his attention to the World’s Greatest Dirt Track – Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio – for the coveted Kings Royal.
