Story By: TIM BALTZ / DAWDY RACING – BROCKVILE, ONT – For the past few seasons The Kim and Dan Dawdy owned #88Z and their driver Bobby Herrington, have dominated the local short track scene winning several races since 2021.
In 2024 the strong runs are still there and compared to last seasons numbers, they are still on pace for a good year with three feature wins so far this year. This time last year Bobby had the same win total.
The Month of June was a solid one for the team as they continue to compete on a weekly basis at Brockville, while also sprinkling in a few appearances at the Cornwall Motor Speedway, which have also been successful.
June 1st the team won their first feature of the season as they chase a record fourth consecutive Brockville Sportsman title, the very next night Bobby and the team traveled to Cornwall as they kicked off the Lamoreaux Pumping Sportsman Series with a 3rd place finish. Last year Bobby was second in the title chase.
The very next week it was back to “The BOS” with another solid top 5 effort, however the car sustained heavy damage after late race contact while battling for a top 5 spot, but the team got the car repaired and came back to Brockville looking for another win on June 15th. On this night Bobby would prove the car was strong once again, crossing the line third behind Jessica Power and Gavin Eisele.
After two straight rain outs at Brockville, Bobby and the team made the decision to take a run at the Cornwall Motor Speedway on June 30th and it paid off big. Bobby scored his first win of the season at CMS, over another solid Sunday Sportsman field.
This past Saturday night it was the second leg of the Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series for the DIRTCar Sportsman, a series that Bobby has won the last two years. After a hard fought battle in the 40 lapper, Bobby was able to get by title rival Gavin Eisele with four laps to go and cruise to the win, his second at Brockville, sixth in the series and 29th of his career at The BOS, good for sole possession of third on the all time win list.
Overall this year The Kim and Dan Dawdy owned team and driver Bobby Herrington have run 9 events and have been in the top 5 every time. After a strong month of June and a win to start things off in July, Bobby and the team are starting to gain momentum, which is good news for the team with some major events coming up on their schedule.
Next week the team heads back to Brockville in search of win number three of the year but also try to maintain their point lead as they go for their fourth Brockville track championship
Bobby, car owners Kim and Dan Dawdy and the rest of the team thank everyone for their support and look forward to seeing you this weekend.
