RoC “Family Of Series” Head To Chemung Speedrome For “Tribute To Ed McGuire” Night Saturday

Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – CHEMUNG, NY – The Race of Champions “Family of Series” will head to Chemung (NY) Speedrome this Saturday, July 20 for the running what has become one of it’s highlighted traditional programs of the season in the “Tribute to Ed McGuire”.

McGuire a long-time racer and car owner from the Southern Tier region is one of the most missed individuals in the sport and the race is always looked forward to by fans and competitors.

The Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series will compete in 51 lap race in honor of McGuire’s beautiful numbered and designed “#51” cars that he brought to tracks throughout the region for many years.

Tony Hanbury, who resides in Ontario, NY, is originally from the Southern Tier and is looking forward to the challenge that the Chemung Speedrome provides.

“Chemung is a tough place,” offered Hanbury. “You’re always up on the wheel and driving hard. Saturday night we are honoring one of the great guys in this sport and it would be great to get back to victory lane this year. Hopefully we can put things together and have a little luck on our side to get the job done.”

The Race of Champions Super Stock Series will also compete for 51 laps in honor McGuire’s time spent in the full-fender Late Model division in the region.

The Race of Champions FOAR SCORE Four Cylinder Dash Series will also return to action as the “RoC-In” Summer Tour continues bringing exciting events to tracks throughout the region.
