Shane Clanton Tops SAS’ July Spectacular at Thunderhill Raceway Park

Story By: BEN SHELTON / SHANE CLANTON RACING – ZEBULON, GA – Shane Clanton enjoyed a triumphant return to Victory Lane on Saturday night with a dominating victory in the Coltman Farms Southern All Star Series-sanctioned July Spectacular at Thunderhill Raceway Park aboard his Super K Express / SCCS Solutions / Freeman Plumbing No. 25 Capital Race Cars / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The Georgia driver earned a $10,000 payday for the victory that snapped his winless streak dating back to November 2022.

“It feels good. First time here at Thunderhill, pretty cool racetrack here,” Clanton said. “We’ve worked awful hard with this Capital Race Car to get it back in victory lane. Hats off to my crew, Wyatt, and my partner Chad Smith here. We bought this deal and it’s been a tough one .. this is the most humbling sport there is, you can be on top of your game one day and bottom of the totem pole next. This is my own car here, now, I gotta pay the bills, so this is a good one here.”

Shane Clanton returned to the driver’s seat of his Super K Express No. 25 Capital Race Car Late Model on Saturday afternoon for the $10,000-to-win July Spectacular at Thunderhill Raceway Park (Summertown, Tenn.).

Amongst a strong field of 35 Southern All Star Late Models, Clanton topped the charts in his qualifying group before outdueling Ethan Dotson for the heat race victory. Jumping out to an early lead on the initial start, Shane led flag-to-flag in the 50-lap feature and parked the Capital House Car in victory lane. In his first victory since 2022, Clanton outran David Breazeale and Josh Putnam who joined him on the podium.

Joining the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern National Series for their Sunday show at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.), Clanton locked into the $7,553-to-win feature through qualifying and made up five spots for a Top-10 finish in ninth.

Clanton is gearing up for a return with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals on Thursday as the miniseries invades Senoia (Ga.) Raceway for the $7,544-to-win Roscoe Smith Memorial.
