Stormy Forecast Forces Cancellation of Racing Activities at Virginia Motor Speedway for Saturday

Story By: DAVE SEAY / VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY – JAMAICA, VA – With all the weather services showing an extremely high probability of rain, officials have made the tough decision to cancel racing activities for Saturday, July20, 2024.

“With the probability of rain at 80%, we want to make sure our fans and competitors are safe and not on the roads in what is going to be rainy and stormy day,” said track owner Bill Sawyer.

The Speedway will return to racing on Saturday, August 3rd, and host week 9 of Dirt Series Championship weekly racing featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified, Joe Hudson’s Collision Centers Limited Stock Car, and Petie’s Radiator Service JuiceBox divisions in action.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a ½ mile dirt oval track located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA, and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA, in Jamaica, VA. The Speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland, and the Hampton Roads area.
