Weedsport Kartway’s Summer Nationals Belongs to Seth Whitney

Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / WEEDSPORT KARTWAY – WEEDSPORT, NY – Seth Whitney returned to his winning ways at Weedsport Kartway on Sunday, once again sweeping the day in his No. 505, collecting $1,100 as part of the kartway’s Summer Nationals.

Whitney’s sweep saw the North Country driver raise his 2024 win total at Weedsport to nine, including his third PRO Clone 360 win of the season during the Slack Karts Super Kart Series presented by Infinit Technology Solutions, Independent Pizzeria, Pit Stop Convenience Stores and Burris Racing Tire.

For the year, Whitney has earned more than $4,000 and now has 20 career senior wins at Weedsport, which ranks second all-time.

Whitney started his afternoon with wins in Clone Heavy and Clone Light, before leading every lap of the PRO Clone 360 Summer Nationals 30 finale over Tanner Emmons, Riley Begy, Chris Natoli and Matthew Barry.

In Heavy it would be Mike Farina and Trent Smith chasing Whitney across the line, while Light saw Emmons and Begy in tow.

The day’s only other senior winner would be Jordan Sullivan in Clone Super Heavy. Sullivan edged William Young by just under one second at the line with Eric Jewett rounding out the podium.

The day’s largest junior class was the youngest class at Weedsport, Jr. Red Clone. A total of nine racers took the green flag with Clark McGruder driving away to earn his first career Weedsport victory. Russell Trickey took second with Jr. Red point leader Harloe Russell in third ahead of Eli Reid and Bryson Herriven.

The Jr. Green Clone main event was once again fast and furious, but this time it was Ryan Barry taking the victory. The win was Barry’s first ever in the Jr. Green division and it came over former winners Jack Reid and Luke Holmes. Mason Rogers and Mason Sharts filled the top five positions on Sunday.

Levi Herriven’s perfect season continued on Sunday in Jr. Purple Clone as he claimed his fourth win of the year. Micheal Hugg had a fine run in second ahead of Laina Stewart, Chase Faucett and Chandler Remp.

Jr. Blue Clone saw a tight three kart battle at the front with Joey Surman collecting the victory over Timmy Axton and Troy Hutton. Elliot Stacey and Rocco Batt complete the front runners.

The Jr. Unrestricted main would find Logan Brown in victory lane for his first Weedsport win since 2019. Brown topped Hutton, Axton and Surman in the 15-lap feature.

Weedsport Kartway returns to action with the Slack Karts Super Kart Series on Sunday, August 11 for the Short Port Shootout. The day’s action will consist of points racing for the kartway’s eight main divisions, as well as a 30-lap, $1,000 to win PRO Clone 360 main.

Pits gates will open on August 11 at 8:30 a.m. with hot laps slated for 11 a.m. and heat racing at Noon. Pre-Registration for the weekend is now available via the Kart Pass app.
