Chris Howse and Billy Schwartzenburg Come Out on Top at Flamboro Speedway

Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY – MILLGROVE, ONT – There were close battles throughout the night at Flamboro Speedway, but ultimately eight different drivers got to hold up a checkered flag in victory lane.

Chris Howse led flag-to-flag in the first Late Model feature in front of Billy Schwartzenburg, Kevin Albers, Logan White, and Roland Goodfellow.

The second race was closer, with Billy Schwartzenburg taking the lead with six laps to go to score the win ahead of Kevin Albers, Logan White, Chris Howse, and Roland Goodfellow.

Bobby Mercer took the lead on Lap 6, pacing the rest of the way to park the wagon in victory lane ahead of his teammate Matt Young, Ryan Edwards-Kiss, Kaitlyn Wallace, and Michael Kenny. RJ Croteau was sixth in front of Tyler Lewis, Matt Smith, Kris Lawrence, and Nikki King.

Trevor Hemingway’s return to the driver’s seat saw him place 11th, followed by Mike Thomson. Mike Gilmour and Rory Markle failed to finish.

Matt Young returned the favor in the second feature, picking up the win ahead of Bobby Mercer, Mike Gilmour, Mike Thomson, and Kaitlyn Wallace. Tyler Lewis ran inside the top-five until five laps to go, fading abck to sixth in front of RJ Croteau, Matt Smith, Kris Lawrence, and Nikki King.

Michael Kenny was 11th, followed by Trevor Hemingway, and Rory Markle. Ryan Edwards-Kiss failed to finish.
Spencer Riddell’s family is involved in different aspects of the speedway, and he got to take them all to victory lane by winning the first Pure Stock feature ahead of Craig Cole, Rodney Rutherford, Chase Mitchell, and Rick Mitchell. Cam Thomson battled his way forward to finish sixth in front of Chris Burrows, Rachel Mitchell, Allan Mattice, and Mike Hall.

Gillian Hils ran just outside the top-10 en route to 11th, followed by Chance Rogers, Mac Ingram, Dylan Peckham, Mark Allan, Hailey Hill, Megan Mitchell, Josh Glos, Tegan Ellis, and Jake Hambly. Jordan Wilms failed to finish.

Cam Thomson kept his strong season going by picking up the win in second feature ahead of Rodney Rutherford, Chase Mitchell, Craig Cole. Chris Burrows ran inside the top-five for the first 13 laps, fading back to sixth in front of Mark Allan, Rick Mitchell, Chance Rogers, and Allan Mattice.

Rachel Mitchell was inside the top-10 for the first half, fading back to 11th, followed by Gillian Hils, Jordan Wilms, Hailey Hill, Mike Hall, Dylan Peckham, Mac Ingram, Megan Mitchell, Teagan Ellis, and Jake Hambly. Josh Glos did not take the green flag.

Mark Lucas took the lead on Lap 4 to win the first Southern Ontario Modified Association (SOMA) feature ahead of Cliff Hodgkinson, Bob Mercer, Shannon Morris, and Sean Carey. Josh Fera faded back, and then regained ground en route to sixth in front of Brad Maitland, Brodie Gibson, Kelly Martin, and Mike Baker. Vic Devries, John Herd, Ken Mercer and Sean Asselin failed to finish.

Bob Mercer led flag-to-flag to win the second feature ahead of Cliff Hodgkinson, Sean Asselin, Sean Carey, and Josh Fera. Shannon Morris faded back to sixth in front of Brodie Gibson, Mark Lucas, Kelly Martin, and Mike Baker. John Herd was 11th, followed by Ken Mercer and Brad Maitland. Vic Devries did not take the green flag.

The next stock car racing event at Flamboro Speedway is taking place on Saturday, July 27, featuring the Pro Late Model, Grindstone Landscaping Canadian Vintage Modifieds, Mini Stocks, and Pure Stocks. There will also be Spectator Drags during intermission.
