Southern Nationals Stop at Toccoa Raceway Canceled Due to Impending Weather

Story By: RYAN DELPH / SOUTHERN NATIONALS SERIES – TOCCOA, GA – Overnight rain and a soggy forecast for today has forced Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series and Toccoa Raceway officials to make the decision to cancel tonight’s scheduled $7,553 to win program at the Toccoa, Georgia venue.

The event will not be rescheduled, but the series looks forward to working with Toccoa in the future. Since the first four Southern Nationals Series races, only the ‘Rebel Yell’ at Screven (GA) Motor Speedway has escaped the wrath of Mother Nature and even that race was pushed back a day due to inclement weather.

The weather forecast does look much improved for the final two point races for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing and fueled by Sunoco. Donald McIntosh will bring an 18-point lead over Cory Hedgecock into the ‘Young Memorial’ on Friday night, July 26 at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia. A $10,053 first place prize will be up for grabs tomorrow night at the northern Georgia facility.

For the 20th straight season, the Southern Nationals Series will crown a Champion at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee on Saturday evening, July 27. This year; however, even more is on the line with the ‘Ray Varner Ford 75’ shelling out a whopping $20,053 winner’s check.
