Story By: BEN SHELTON / DRAKE TROUTMAN RACING – HYNDMAN, PA – Drake Troutman hustled to the $5,000 Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series victory on Saturday night at Hummingbird Speedway.
The victory was the sixth of the year for Troutman and came aboard Wheeler Fleet Solutions / CertainTeed No. 7 RFI Resources / Shoe’s Diesel Performance / Longhorn Race Car / Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model.
“It was great to be back closer to home and to get a win. The past few weeks on the road with the Lucas Oil (Late Model Dirt Series), we’ve battled a lot of challenges, but we got back home, regrouped, and got the win at Hummingbird (Speedway),” Troutman said. “I’m looking forward to racing at Port Royal (Speedway) this Saturday. That’s such an awesome place, and it’ll be a nice tune-up for the Lucas Oil event we have there later in August.”
Drake Troutman returned to his home state of Pennsylvania over the weekend as he entered his RFI Resources No. 7 Super Late Model into battle at Bedford (Pa.) Speedway for the Gary Martz Memorial.
Gunning for the $3,700 top prize in Friday’s opener, Troutman rolled to a fourth-place finish in the 25-lap feature.
On Saturday, Drake joined the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series (ULMS) at Hummingbird Speedway (Reynoldsville, Pa.) for the track’s Grady Decision Night.
After topping the 23-car field in time trials, Troutman dashed into the A-Main with a heat race win. Rolling off the feature grid from the third row, Drake blasted ahead of Jared Miley on lap 11 and paced the remainder of the 30-lapper to claim his sixth win of the season and the $5,000 payday.
He took the checkers ahead of Ken Schaltenbrand, Miley, Michael Lake, and Tyler Wyant.
Troutman’s weekend concluded with a pair of $3,500-to-win Frank Sagi Tribute features at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway on Sunday. After driving 14th-to-second in the first 20-lap prelim, Drake scored a fifth-place finish in the weekend finale.
Drake has a single event on the schedule for the upcoming weekend with a trip to Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway on Saturday for a $4,000-to-win Weekly Racing Series Event.
