Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – With a forecast of late afternoon and early evening rain showers, Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri made the decision to cancel the Friday, August 2, 2024, Super 5 Show.
“We had an awful spring in the northeast with rain and cold temperatures about every weekend. May, June and July were much better albeit we did lose a couple shows on May10 and June21 and we had a couple other close calls. However, for the past six weeks Mother Nature has been exceptionally good to us in this region. However, todays outlook was not favorable to say the least so I figured I might better pull it early and save everyone an unnecessary trip.” Those comments by Outlaw ‘s Tyler Siri.
Siri and his track preparation crew have laid out one of the best racing surfaces in the northeast all season, but it was time for a more in-depth approach heading into the point stretch run.
“The surface has been absolutely perfect all year and the drivers rave about it. Smooth, wide, fast! Just what they want! But we have put a lot of laps down since spring, so it was time to spend a little more time than normal with our weekly grooming operation.” That once again according to Siri.
With the rainout, it leaves just two weekly point paying events prior to the Season Championship Night Double Point Finale set for Friday, August 30, 2024.
The track will lay idle on Friday, August 23 for a scheduled NIGHT OFF!
The point battles in all the weekly classes are too close to call especially when you add in the double point finale.
Siri along with all the tracks loyal fan and driver base are now hoping for pleasant weather on August 9, 16 and 30 to see the point battles settled on the track.
In addition, the CRSA 305 Sprints will be on the card August 16 event after an earlier season washout.
“We were fortunate to have a hole in our schedule as did the CRSA 305 Sprints on August 16, 2024, to bring them back. That is rare as generally all parties are booked up with open dates hard to come by for both parties.”
Track announcer, Craig Spazman Simmons also oversees the day-to-day operation of Outlaw’s Facebook which has thousands of followers and millions of views.
Spazman sees to it that no stone is left unturned as he not only keeps things updated with valuable information, but his postings are positive and, on many occasions, tickets are given away.
The Outlaw Speedway is located on Er. 14a just outside of Dundee, NY right in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York.
