Story By: JIM CLARKE / ONTARIO LEGEND CAR SERIES – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – Racers and teams with the Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series checked-in Saturday, August 10th at Peterborough Speedway. The group had a pair of main events on an agenda that included taking care of some unfinished business that dated back to early last month.
Paul Pierik and Matt Haufe brought the field from the staging area to resume the Einarson Trucking feature race from July 6th that was delayed because of the track curfew. Haufe took the early lead from his outside front row starting spot, bringing Cole McFadden and Pierik along with him as Adam Cuthbertson slipped into 4th. The potent No. 7 of Haufe had an advantage of close to 5 car lengths with just over a handful of laps on the scoreboard. There was excellent racing throughout the field before the race’s only yellow flag waved with only 5 laps remaining. Haufe hung-on for the win, with McFadden, Cuthbertson, Dawson Drimmie and Mitch Wright completing the top 5. Matt Boyes, Wesley Cuthbertson, Keaton Pipe, Robbie Sikes, Paul Pierik, Glenn Morris, Caleb Drimmie and Gibson Baker completed the running order.
Heat races were completed Saturday, July 6th.
The regularly scheduled Ontario Legend Car Series feature – presented by Skelton Truck Lines and ATS Healthcare – had Jordan Latimer and Mitch Wright on the front row for the group’s National Qualifier. Latimer took the early lead and held through a stretch where 6 different racers were battling for the top spot. A yellow flag just short of the halfway mark slowed things down, with Wright taking the lead on the restart and previous Peterborough Speedway race winner fighting for 2nd with Latimer. The No. 21, 66 and 90 trio held onto the top 3 positions at the checkered flag, as Wright, Drimmie and Latimer crossed the stripe under a virtual blanket. Matt Haufe and Adam Cuthbertson completed the top 5. Cole McFadden, Keaton Pipe, Wes Cuthbertson, Matt Boyes, Mark Griffin, Robbie Sikes, Caleb Drimmie, Gibson Baker, Paul Pierik, Andrew McFadden, Glenn Morris, Anthony Einarson and Josh Millain completed the running order.
Ontario Legend Car Series qualifying events were won by Jordan Latimer with a pair, along with Dawson Drimmie and Matt Haufe.
