Norris Family Sweeps Ontario Pro Challenge Series Features At Flamboro

Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY – MILLGROVE, ONT – In a night filled with a couple incidents, there was a lot of excitement in watching several faces celebrate in victory lane on Saturday at Flamboro Speedway.

Tim Norris took the lead on Lap 16, pacing the final eight laps to win the first Weston Forest Products Ontario Pro Challenge feature ahead of Bryan Stevanus, Travis Majuery, Ty Riopelle, and Mike Norris. Sterling Hattin ran just outside the top-five en route to sixth in front of Emma Norris, Mike O’Connell, Tenli Pepin, and Jordan Ramsbottom. Ethan Fleet failed to finish, while Jay Linde was disqualified after crossing the finish line in second.

Mike Norris took the lead Lap 8, leading the rest of the way en route to winning the second feature ahead of Tim Norris, Ty Riopelle, Bryan Stevanus, and Travis Majuery. Emma Norris made her way back forward after fading back early for sixth, in front of Sterling Hattin, Mike O’Connell, Jay Linde, and Ethan Fleet. Tenli Pepin rounded out the field while Jordan Ramsbottom failed to taike the green flag.

Bluestreak Contracting kept their hold on the Klotz Auto Repair Mini Stocks, with the teammates sweeping the pair of features.

Matt Young paced all 25 laps to win the first feature ahead of Bobby Mercer, Mike Thomson, Mike Gilmour, and Kaitlyn Wallace. Tyler Lewis ran just outside the top-five to sixth in front of Mark Grieve, Kris Lawrence, Nikki King, and Riley Mercer. Trevor Hemingway and Ryan Edwards-Kiss did not take the green flag.

Bobby Mercer took the lead at the halfway mark, pacing the rest of the way to win the second feature ahead of Matt Young, Mike Gilmour, and Tyler Lewis. Kris Lawrence put together one of his best Mini Stock runs en route to sixth in front of Mark Grieve, Trevor Hemingway, and Nikki King. Kaitlyn Wallace failed to finish due to motor issues, ahead o fRiley Mercer. Ryan Edwards-Kiss did not take the green flag.

Leo Labarbera made his birthday weekend a little more special, winning the first Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stock feature ahead of Cam Thomson, Chase Mitchell, Wayde Thorne, and Chance Rogers. Gary Slama redeemed himself after last week with a sixth in front of Rachel Mitchell, Chris Burrows, Craig Cole, and Spencer Riddell.

Dan Storey battled his way forward for 11th, followed by Mike Hall, Megan Mitchell, Jordan Wilms, and Mac Ingram. Rob Hoskins and Mark Allan saw their features end on Lap 15, with Rick Mitchell’s ending a lap before that. Jake Watson and Owen Brooker also did not finish, while Dylan Peckham placed 20th.

Cam Thomson took the lead at the halfway mark, pacing the rest of the second feature en route to victory lane ahead of Gary Slama, Spencer Riddell, Craig Cole, and Dan Storey. Chase Mitchell’s solid sesaon continued with a sixth in front of Mike Hall, Rick Mitchell, Chris Burrows, and Mark Allan.

Mac Ingram ran just outide the top-10 en route to 11th, followed by Dylan Peckham, and Megan Mitchell. Jordan Wilms’ ran sixth until Lap 11, while an incident in the first six laps resulted in Wayde Thorne, Loe Labarbera and Rob Hoskins not finishing. Owen Brooker also did not finish, while Jake Watson did not take the green flag.

Dan Pettit won the first BCW Lumber Southern Ontario Pro 4 Modified heat ahead of John Held, Brodie Gibson, Kelly Martin, Vic DeVries, Brad Maitland, Mike Baker, and John Fera.

Cliff Hodgkinson won the second heat in front of Sean Asselin, Josh Fera, Bob Mercer, Sean Carey, Ken Mercer, Shannon Morris, and Mark Lucas.

Come feature time, it was Sean Asselin pacing all 20 laps en route to winning ahead of Bob Mercer, Mark Lucas, Cliff Hodgkinson, and Dan Pettit. Sean Carey ran just outside the top-five en route to sixth ahead of Ken Mercer, Josh Fera, Brodie Gibson, and John Held.

Vic DeVries ran inside the top-10 for a bit, fading back for 11th, followed by Kelly Martin, and Brad Maitland. Shannon Morris and Mike Baker failed to finish.

The next racing event scheduled at Flamboro Speedway takes place on Saturday, August 17, featuring Meet the Drivers Night. The on-track action will feature the Pro Late Models, Canadian Vintage Modifieds, Legends, Mini Stocks, and Pure Stocks.
