Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – For the third and final time in 2024, Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri will exercise his originally scheduled NIGHT OFF on Friday, August 23, 2024.
“For the past few years when I set up the tracks yearly schedule, I have built in no less than three NIGHTS’ OFF during the regular season. It gives all the fans, employees and racers a chance to play catch up and do some other things. This sport has gotten extremely expensive for everyone involved and in many cases the people that support Outlaw Speedway need a break.” That is according to Tyler Siri.
April and August have not been good to the ninth-year owner/promoter of the historic Yates Couty Speedway as early spring rain cancelled all but one April event.
Thus far in August no one has turned a lap at Outlaw Speedway as the opening two Friday night shows were called due to Mother Nature.
Weather has become a talking point in the past and 2024 is no exception as Mother Nature has wreaked havoc for promoters in the northeast forcing postponements not just at Outlaw, but numerous other facilities in the region.
The timing of rainstorms coupled with their immense impact has been a game changer for promoters.
Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri works diligently trying to stay on top of upcoming weather patterns which may directly affect the tracks Friday race program.
“Weather cannot be taken lightly when it comes to racetrack preparation in addition to making decisions if we should race or not if the timing of a storm looks like it might hit the facility around race time. It costs fans and race teams a lot of money just traveling g to the track, and we do not want any unnecessary travel. I keep a close eye on upcoming weather beginning several days prior to a scheduled event.”
Camping is always free at Outlaw and a large variety of iced cold beer is available at two locations including the Turn 4 Tavern for those in the grandstand seating area as well as the Outlaw Saloon which is in pits.
With the Regular Point Season rapidly concluding coupled with several rained-out events, the point battles are incredibly close in all the weekly divisions and with the Double Point Season Championship event set to go on Friday, August 30 it is a crap shoot as to is going to be crowned as the Outlaw Speedway 2024 Track Champion in each respective class of competition.
The Outlaw Speedway has one of the most aggressive Facebook accounts in Motorsports. A wealth of information is posted daily by Facebook guru and track announcer, Craig Spazman Simmons.
