Wet Weather Washes Away Peterborough Speedway’s Weekend Plans

Story By: JIM CLARKE / PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – Fan Appreciation Night at Peterborough Speedway has been rescheduled to Saturday, August 24th.

The I’s had been dotted and the T’s had been crossed as the promotional team got ready for another exciting night of racing at Peterborough Speedway.

Then Mother Nature stepped-in and washed it all down the drain.

“Like other tracks across the province, we’ve had a lot of issues with weather during the 2024 schedule,” said track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “We can fix almost anything during the weekly operation of the speedway, but there isn’t anything to do about the forecast. Our team monitors the conditions and hopes for the best whenever there might be inclement weather in the area.”

Because the Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Nights – presented by Pepsi – are some of the most popular dates on the annual schedule, track officials will shift the date that was rained-out August 17th to Saturday, August 24th. Racing divisions will now include the home track Bone Stock, Renegade Truck, Super Stock and Late Model divisions, along with the Outlaw Midgets. Pit gates will open at 1:30, with grandstands unlocked at 4:00 and racing at 5:00.

Passes purchased online will be accepted for the rescheduled date at no additional charge. New tickets will also be available – either online or at the trackside ticket booth – at the standard $ 4.00 Fan Appreciation Night price. Fans are once again reminded that Peterborough Speedway is a ‘cash only’ facility, with an ATM available at the main gate.

This will be the second-to-last event of the track’s 2024 regular season schedule. Heading into the Saturday, August 31st Championship Clash, the battles for this year’s titles are tighter than they’ve been in recent memory. Don’t miss the chance to cheer for your favourite local racers as they look to add an overall crown to their resume.
