Story By: JORDAN WOOD / WOOD BROTHERS RACING – STUART, VA – Harrison Burton and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team, fresh off a win last Saturday night at Daytona, are headed into this weekend’s Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway with a burst of momentum.
“It’s hard for me to put into words how special getting this Wood Brothers Racing team their 100th win is to both myself and to Harrison,” said crew chief Jeremy Bullins. “Obviously we haven’t met our own expectations this season, but we knew Daytona would a great opportunity to try to get a win and turn things around.
“With the Playoff format being what it is, nothing before Daytona really matters now. We can hit reset and get focused on the next few weeks.
“Darlington is a track that Harrison has run well at in the past so we are excited to head there with some momentum and our Motorcraft Mustang.
Burton finished a season-best sixth in the spring race at Darlington last year, and he has his best average finish there (19.6) of any track on the schedule.
Practice for the Cook Out Southern 500 is set for Saturday at 12:35 p.m. Eastern Time, with qualifying to follow at 1:20.
Sunday’s 267-lap, 500-mile race is scheduled to get the green flag just after 6 p.m., with Stage breaks at Laps 115 and 230.
USA Network will carry the TV broadcast all weekend.
