NHMS EVP / GM David McGrath Excited for ’25 NASCAR Playoffs Weekend at “The Magic Mile”

Story By: SHANNON STEPHENS / NHMS – LOUDON, NH – New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) Executive Vice President and General Manager David McGrath spoke to media Thursday following NASCAR’s 2025 schedule announcement, which includes a Sept. 19-21 visit to NHMS by the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS), NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT).

The 2025 NCS race at NHMS will kick off the Round of 12 on Sunday, Sept. 21 while the NCTS race will join the Mohegan Sun 100 NWMT race on Doubleheader Saturday, Sept. 20 and serve as a Round of 10 cutoff race to solidify the Round of 8.

Highlights from David McGrath from today’s Zoom media availability:

“It’s going to be a great weekend. We’re going to have the Modifieds and the Trucks as a Doubleheader Saturday, and then of course the Cup Series will race on Sunday in the Playoffs, the first race in the Round of 12, which is kind of exciting, so New Hampshire will play a big role in determining the 2025 NASCAR Championship, and that’s big news for the state of New Hampshire and big news for race fans all over the Northeast.”

“It’s been seven years since the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series has raced at ‘The Magic Mile,’ and where this is a cutoff race into the next round, I think you’re going to see a lot of beating and banging, and they’re not going to be familiar with the speedway, and I think practice and qualifying will play big roles as to how they set those trucks up for that race, and quite frankly I think race fans are in for an absolute treat, because it is kind of an unknown, right?”

“I can’t thank Marcus Smith and the team over at Speedway Motorsports enough. I also want to thank race fans across New England and across the region that have supported New Hampshire Motor Speedway. It’s those reasons we are in this position to host this event in 2025, and that’s not lost on me, and that’s certainly not lost on the team here at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. I’m already getting text messages from the State of New Hampshire how excited the Travel and Tourism Commissioner is in regards to this event and what it means for the state of New Hampshire, so we’ll be ready to put on a whale of a show for our race fans and make New Hampshire Motor Speedway the pride and joy of Speedway Motorsports, and I cannot wait to host race fans from all over the world here at ‘The Magic Mile’ in September of 2025 for a great weekend of racing.”

The 2025 NASCAR weekend will be the only visit by America’s most popular form of motorsport to the six-state New England region. TV/radio broadcast start times, network affiliations and entertainment will be announced at a later date.
