Spirits Not Dampened Despite a Shower at Flamboro Speedway

Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY – MILLGROVE, ONT – Despite a bit of rain shortening the show at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, the fans were entertained by the events that did take place on the black top.

Chad McGlynn topped the Ontario Sportsman Series qualifying session with a lap of 16.309 seconds ahead of Connor James, Kevin Gallant, Mike Hryniuk, and Kevin Trevelin. Unfortunately, as the drivers got ready for their 100 lap feature, rain would begin to fall. As a result, the event was called with the race not taking place as scheduled.

Jayden Riddell’s consistent improvement behind the wheel led to success, as he won the T.Q. Can-Am Midget feature ahead of Cory Whittam, Jeff Blackburn, Daniel Hawn, and James Stanley. Darren McLennan fell outside of the top-five in the second half of the event, in front of Paul Jorgensen, Robert Polillo, and Tyler Cullen. Several drivers failed to finish including Sherri Hogan, Larry Lawson, and Mike Westwood.

It was a night of firsts, with Jordan Ramsbottom picking up his first career Weston Forrest Products Ontario Pro Challenge feature win ahead of Mike Norris, Sterling Hattin, Jay Linde, and Ethan Fleet. Travis Majuery made his way forward for sixth in front of Ty Riopelle, Tim Norris, Emma Norris, Taylor Weber, and Mike O’Connell. Tenli Pepin and Bryan Steveanus failed to finish..

Tim Norris picked up another checkered flag in the second feature ahead of Ty Riopelle, Travis Majuery, Mike Norris, and Ethan Fleet. Jay Linde put together one of his best runs with a sixth in front of Jordan Ramsbottom, Bryan Stevevanus, Mike O’Connell, Sterling Hattin, Tenli Pepin, and Taylor Weber. Emma Norris failed to finish.

Karl Sault’s return to the track saw him win the first Klotz Auto Repair Mini Stock feature ahead of Bobby Mercer, Matt Young, Kaitlyn Wallace, and Mike Thomson. RJ Croteau battled just outside the top-five to sixth in front of Mark Grieve, Mike Gilmour, Nikki King, and Dan Demers. Matthew Smith did not take the green flag.

Karl Sault went for the daily double ahead of Mike Gilmour, Matt Young, Matt Thomson, and Kaitlyn Wallace. Bobby Mercer surprisingly failed to crack the top-five, this time scored sixth in front of Mark Grieve, Nikki King, Dan Demers, and RJ Croteau. Matthew Smith did not take the green flag.

Chase Mitchell’s perserverance paid off as he scored his first career Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stocks feature win ahead of Craig Cole, Chris Burrows, Chance Rogers, and Cam Thomson. Gary Slama’s consistency carried him to sixth in front of Wayde Thorne, Leo Labarbera, Mac Ingram, and Rick Mitchell.

Courtney Scott’s return saw her place 11th, followed by Mike Hall, Allen Mattice, Rachel Mitchell, Hailey Hill, Mark Allan, Megan Mitchell, Josh Flos, Jordan Wilms, and Bonnie Sterrritt. Owen Brooker failed to finish.

Cam Thomson kept the good times rolling with another feature win ahead of Wayde Thorne, Chase Mitchell, Spencer Riddell, and Gary Slama. Chance Rogers’ solid night continued with a sixth in front of Allen Mattice, Chris Burrows, Craig Cole, and Mac Ingram.

Jordan Wilms fell out of the top-10 in the closing laps for 11th, followed by Mark Allan, Rachel Mitchell, Bonnie Sterritt, Rick Mitchell, and Owen Brooker. Several drivers failed to finish incluidng Hailey Hill, Mike Hall, Megan Mitchell, Courtney Scott, and Leo Labarbera. Josh Flos did not take the green flag.

The next racing event is scheduled at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, August 31, with Memorial Night. The on-track action will feature the Pro Late Models, Canadian Vintage Modiifeds, Mini Stocks, and Pure Stocks. There will be a corn roast, and a live performance from Rock ‘N’ Rays Retro Rockers pit side at the conclusion of the night.
