Lebanon Valley Speedway’s Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A. Wiped Out Due to Rain

Story BY: PHIL ALLAWAY / LEBANON VALLEY SPEEDWAY – WEST LEBANON, NY – Saturday night was supposed to be the biggest night of the year at Lebanon Valley Speedway as the Super DIRTcar Series came to town for the annual Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A. 43 cars were to battle to get into the 100-lap feature.

However, the weather didn’t cooperate. Hot laps were completed for both the Super DIRTcar Series and the Pro Stock teams before rains descended upon the track. The first shower was brief and the track almost run back in before another round of showers came through.

That stopped and the crews went back out. Finally, the third round of rain, this time heavy, came through. This was enough for the racing card to be cancelled.

The track is still trying to work out future plans as of this writing. The track requests that you hold onto your race tickets, wristbands and/or 50/50 raffle tickets as there will be an announcement as to what will happen in the near future on the track’s Facebook page.

What is clear is that is the Pro Stock class has finished their 2024 season. Zach Sorrentino entered what was supposed to be the season finale Saturday night with a two-point lead over Nick Hilt. The rainout means that Sorrentino will claim his first Pro Stock championship.

There is one more week of racing at Lebanon Valley Speedway scheduled for Sept. 7. The champions in the Small Block/358 Modified, Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, Super Street Stock and 4-Cylinder classes will officially be crowned.
