The NASCAR Cup Series regular season will conclude Sunday night at the historic Darlington Raceway with the Cook Out Southern 500, one of the sport’s crown jewel events. For the first time since the Cup Series Playoffs began in 2004, the 1.366-mile, egg-shaped oval will host the regular season’s final race, setting the stage for an intense battle as many drivers vie for a spot in the postseason.
- Ryan Blaney, driver, No. 12 Menards/Richmond Ford Mustang – 7th
- Austin Cindric, driver, No. 2 Discount Tire Ford Mustang – 11th
- Joey Logano, driver, No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Mustang – 23rd
HEAR FROM BLANEY: “The second round wasn’t as good as I had hoped for. I thought our race pace was really strong though, so that is something to look forward to. Starting in the top 10 tomorrow is not too bad. Like I said, I feel good about the race tomorrow, so we have that to look forward to and hopefully we can move forward come race time.”
TEAM PENSKE AT DARLINGTON: Team Penske has four wins at the historic Darlington Raceway, two of which are Southern 500 victories. Bobby Allison recorded the organization’s first two wins at the South Carolina track, sweeping both events in the 1975 season. Brad Keselowski won for the organization in 2018 with Joey Logano etching the team’s most recent win at The Lady in Black in 2022 after starting from the pole.
