Memorial Night Successful for Flamboro Speedway

Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY – MILLGROVE, ONT – In a special night for Flamboro Speedway in recognising those we have lost too soon, the fans in attendance were treated to great racing on-track, as well as tasty food and entertaining music at the corn roast afterwards.

Kevin Albers took the lead on Lap 3, pacing the remaining laps to win the first Grisdale Enterprises Pro Late Model feature ahead of Billy Schwartzenburg, Chris Howse, Logan White, Rick Burbridge, and Roland Goodfellow.

Kevin Albers went for the daily double, winning the second feature in front of Chris Howse, Billy Schwartzenburg, Logan White, and Roland Goodfellow. Rick Burbridge did not finish.

As a result, Kevin Albers was crowned the Memorial Night Champion for the Pro Late Models.

Jake Gilbert took the lead on Lap 2, pacing the rest of the way en route to winning the first Grindstone Landscaping Canadian Vintage Modified feature ahead of Ricky Willigar, TJ Marshall, Rodney Rutherford, and Maddux Pepin. Ian McIntyre was sixth in his return to the series in front of Mike Westwood, Jae Pepin, Mike Podd, and Ty Riopelle.

Doug Hood was 11th, followed by Samantha Trewolla. Several drivers failed to finish including Scott Tonelli and Jordan Wilms, who were involved in an incident in turn three which ended the feature early. Steve Murdoch and Quinton Murdoch also failed to finish.

TJ Marshall took the lead the halfway mark, pacing the second half to win the second feature ahead of Rodney Rutherford, Mike Podd, Jae Pepin, and Ricky Willigar. Maddux Pepin’s strong night continued with a sixth in front of Mike Westwood, Ian McIntyre, Steve Murdoch, and Doug Hood.

Samantha Trewolla was 11th, while Ty Riopelle and Jake Gilbert failed to finish. Quinton Murdoch, Scott Tonelli and Jordan Wilms did not take the green flag.

As a result, TJ Marshall was crowned the Memorial Night Champion for the Canadian Vintage Modifieds.

Mike Thomson led flag-to-flag to win the first Klotz Auto Repair Mini Stock feature ahead of Karl Sault, Matt Young, Mike Gilmour, and Ryan Edwards-Kiss. Kaitlyn Wallace continues to overcome mechanical gremlins with a sixth in front of RJ Croteau, Kris Lawrence, and Nikki King. Michael Kenny did not take the green flag.

Karl Sault took the lead with three laps to go to win the second feature ahead of Matt Young, Mike Gilmour, Bobby Mercer, and Mike Thomson. Ryan Edwards-Kiss was fifth in front of RJ Croteau, Kris Lawrence, Nikki King, and Kaitlyn Wallace. Michael Kenny did not take the green flag.

As a result, Karl Sault was crowned the Memorial Night Champion for the Mini Stocks.

Taking the lead at the halfway mark, Craig Cole led the rest of the way en route to winning the first Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stock feature ahead of Spencer Riddell, Rick Mitchell, Gary Slama, and Wayde Thorne. Cameron Thomson’s strong season continued with a sixth in front of Leo Labarbera, Mark Allan, Chance Rogers, and Courtney Scott.

Chris Burrows was 11th, followed by Gillian Hils, Gary Triska, Dan Storey, Chase Mitchell, Megan Mitchell, Hailey Hill, Mike Hall, Rachel Mitchell, and Josh Glos. Dylan Peckham was 21st, followed by Nathan Rhea and Bonnie Sterritt. Jordan Wilms and Jake Watson both failed to finish.

Pacing all 25 laps, Gary Triska scored his first career Pure Stock feature victory in the second feature ahead of Chase Mitchell, Wayde Thorne, Chris Burrows, and Hailey Hill. Spencer Riddell battled his way forward for sixth in front of Jordan Wilms, Gillian Hils, Craig Cole, and Gary Slama.

Chance Rogers was 11th, followed by Dan Storey, Mark Allan, Courtney Scott, Leo Labarbera, Mike Hall, Rachel Mitchell, Dylan Peckham, Rick Mitchell, and Josh Glos. Megan Mitchell finished 21st, while Nathan Rhea and Bonnie Sterritt failed to finish. Jake Watson did not take the green flag, while Cameron Thomson was disqualified.

As a result of their strong finishes in both features, Wayde Thorne and Spencer Riddell were crowned the co-overall Memorial Night Champions for the Pure Stocks.

Vic Devries won the first BCW Lumber Brantford Southern Ontario Pro 4 Modified heat ahead of Jessie Gibson, John Held, Brodie Gibson, Kelly Martin, Riley Mercer, and Mike Baker. Brad Maitland failed to finish.

Sean Asselin won the second heat ahead of Cliff Hodgkinson, Bob Mercer, Josh Fera, Dan Petit, Mark Lucas, Ken Mercer, and Shannon Morris.

When it came time for the Pro 4 Modified feature, it’d be Dan Petit picking up the checkered flag ahead of Mark Lucas, Cliff Hodgkinson, Bob Mercer, and Josh Fera. Sean Asselin was sixth in front of John Held, Vic Devries, Riley Mercer, and Kelly Martin. Mike Baker was 11th, while Jessie Gibson, Ken Mercer, and Brodie Gibson did not finish. Brad Maitland did not take the green flag, while Shannon Morris was disqualified.

The next racing event is scheduled at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, September 7, featuring a 100 lap Enduro, the Ontario Pro Challenge Series, Mini Stocks, and Pure Stocks.
