Jacob Mercer Rides a Strong 2024 Season into the APC Autumn Colours Classic

Story By: JIM CLARKE / MERCER MOTORSPORTS – MOUNT HOPE, ONT – Even if they’re not actually winning, when a young racer gets on a roll, they can almost feel unbeatable.

Heading into the final night of Peterborough Speedway’s 2024 schedule, Jacob Mercer was just 30 points behind the overall leader in the track’s Late Model point standings. In his most recent feature events, the 18-year-old racer had logged a pair of 3rd place finishes and the driver scored a runner-up effort in the Saturday, August 31st Championship Clash. Ending the season finale ahead of the eventual track champion, the talented youngster concluded his 3rd year of stock car racing in 2nd place in the running order.

“I owe my family, friends, fans and crew members a huge vote of thanks for their support and encouragement during the season,” explained Jacob Mercer. “To conclude the 2024 schedule with a 2nd place effort in a feature event that also included the No. 16 and No. 71 teams and close the gap to just 23 points at the end of the day feels great. Our team worked hard in the shop and at the track. I learned a lot during the year and came away with some solid finishes throughout the year.”

As they continue preparing for the 31st annual running of the Autumn Colours Classic, Jacob Mercer and the No. 81 Mercer Motorsports team would like to once again like to acknowledge the participation of this year’s promotional partners Sine’s Flooring, Durmach Precision Tooling, Facility Services, Courtice Septic, Beyond Signs & Design, Lindsay Dodge Chrysler, CARSTAR Lindsay, Lindsay Buick GMC, Highland Designs by Tracy Pattison, Cressman Tree Maintenance, Richter Law, BJ Tackle, Kawartha Metals, K9INE Protection, YoungCo Septic Design & Install, Cliffshore Excavating, Sarah Turck Sherwood Mortgage Group, Andrea Spohn Desjardins Insurance, Ganaraska Financial, Cooper Equipment Rentals, Parkin Lawn Care, Holdaway Motorsports and Clarke Motorsports Communications.

Still to come on the 2024 schedule will be a Thanksgiving holiday weekend that will include a start in the Late Model Electric City 167 during the 31st annual Autumn Colours Classic – October 11th through 13th – at Peterborough Speedway.
