Beagle Wins Inaugural Northern Thuner Stock Nationals At Ohsweken; McPherson Takes RoC Victory

Story By: BRENT OTCHERE / OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY – OHSWEKEN, ONT – Nitro 54 Variety, Arrow Express, Sit’n Bull Tire, and Middleport Mechanical presented the Inaugural Northern Thunder Stock Nationals on Thursday night at Ohsweken Speedway; Ryan Beagle took the Thunder Stock A-Main while Cody McPherson took the ROC Sportsman Modifieds victory.

Northern Thunder Stock Nationals
Dave Bailey and Rob Murray brought the 30 car field to the green flag for the 35 lap Middleport Mechanical Northern Thunder Stock Nationals A-Main. Bailey led the first laps, opening up a sizable gap over the field until a caution flag fell on lap three due to fluid on the track. Bailey was able to hold off the pack once more after the restart. The race then came to a halt on lap seven when a red flag came out due to a melee with Carter Rhodes, Ben Cameron, and Kacey Huffman. All three drivers were unharmed in the incident.

2024 Thunder Stock track champion Ryan Beagle began his campaign to the front after the restart. He knifed his way to second place through multiple restarts. With just four laps left to go, Beagle got ahead of Bailey who had led every lap until that point. Beagle used the clean air to his advantage and stayed ahead of Bailey, claiming the prestigious $5,000 win by a margin of 0.552 seconds. Finishing out the top five were Bailey in second, Ron Loggie third, Mark Fawcett fourth, and Justin Ramsay fifth.

Race of Champions Sportsman Modifieds
Adam Leslie started on pole with Matt Sharpe next to him for the 25 lap Sportsman Modified A-Main. Sharpe led the first lap, but an early caution flag allowed Cody McPherson take the lead away on the restart. The racing between the mid-pack was intense as everyone jockeyed for their positions. The hard racing caused a few caution flags and restarts, however McPherson stood tall to the challenge and stayed up front.

A battle for second heated up between Scott Wood and Bill Bleich as the laps ticked off. Their squabbling allowed McPherson to extend his lead and win the race comfortably. Wood got the better of Bleich and scored the runner-up finish. Next to cross the line were Bleich in third, Nigel Pendykoski fourth, and James Michael Friesen fifth.
