Schatz Rolls Through Bakersfield & Merced With Back-To-Back WoO Sprint Top-10’s

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Another action-packed weekend in the Golden State resulted in another success story for Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, this time accomplishing back-to-back top-ten appearances in back-to-back starts at Bakersfield Speedway and Merced Speedway on Friday and Saturday, September 13-14.

The ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion finished seventh and tenth, respectively, now with 46 point-earning top-tens on the season.

Impressive enough, the Fargo, North Dakota, native and ace of the Carquest, Advance Auto Parts, Ford Performance, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Elliott’s Custom Trailers & Carts, Mobil 1, Hoosier, VP Racing Fuels & Tub ‘O Towels, No. 15 sprint car rallied in each of his weekend outcomes, cruising ahead five positions at Bakersfield before nearly doubling that feat with an eight-position rally at Merced.

With only a pair of California starts remaining, a doubleheader dubbed the Dennis Roth Classic at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Schatz and TSR remain third in the World of Outlaws championship standings, trailing Connecticut’s own David Gravel by 132 markers.
