J.R. Fitzpatrick Sweeps Pro Late Model Features at Flamboro Speedway

Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY – MILLGROVE, ONT – With the season drawing closer to concluding, every lap at Flamboro Speedway just seems to matter that much more to everyone involved.

J.R. Fitzpatrick took the lead on Lap 18, pacing the remaining seven laps en route to winning the Grisdale Enterprises Pro Late Model feature ahead of Billy Schwartzenburg, Kevin Albers, Tyler Di Venanzo, Rick Burbridge, Roland Goodfellow, and Ty Cavalin. Logan White and Scott Gibson failed to finish.

J.R. Fitzpatrick went for the daily double, this time ahead of Billy Schwartzenburg, Jacob Mercer, Rick Burbridge, Tyler Di Venanzo, Ty Cavalin, and Logan White. Roland Goodfellow and Scott Gibson failed to finish.

Jae Pepin’s persistence paid off as he won the opening Grindstone Landscaping Canadian Vintage Modified feature ahead of Jeremy Riopelle, Mike Podd, Jason Keen, and Scoott Tonelli. Maddux Pepin battled forward for sixth in front of Ian McIntyre, Darren McLennan, and Samantha Trewolla. Mike Westwood, Rodney Rutherford, and Steve Murdoch failed to finish.

Past series champion Jason Keen won the second feature ahead of Jeremy Riopelle, Mike Podd, Darren McLennan, and Jae Pepin. Maddux Pepin was sixth once again in front of Ian McIntyre, Scott Tonelli, and Samantha Trewolla. Mike Westwood and Steve Murdoch failed to finish, while Rodney Rutherford did not take the green flag.

Matt Young led all 25 laps in the first Klotz Auto Repair Mini Stock feature ahead of Tyler Lewis, Bobby Mercer, Kaitlyn Wallace, and Mike Gilmour. Mark Grieve made his way forward for sixth in front of Mike Thomson, Alex Stewart, Rory Markle, and Nikki King.

His teammate Bobby Mercer won the second feature ahead of Matt Young, Tyler Lewis, Mike Thomson, and Kaitlyn Wallace. Mark Grieve was sixth once again in front of Rory Markle, Alex Stewart, and Nikki King. Mike Gilmour failed to finish after completing only one lap.

Jo Lawrence’s return behind the wheel of a Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stock was met with success, as he won the first feature ahead of Rachel Mitchell, Mac Ingram, Spencer Riddell, and Wayde Thorne. Jordan Wilms battled his way to sixth in front of Chris Burrows, Leo Labarbera, Chase Mitchell, and Craig Cole.

Dylan Peckham was 11th, followed by Allan Mattice, Chance Rogers, Mark Thorne, John Cote, Mike Hall, Mark Allan, Megan Mitchell, Owen Brooker, and Jamie Madsley. Rick Mitchell and Gary Slama both failed to finish.

Chase Mitchell made the most of the second feature, picking up the victory in the 25-lap affair ahead of Craig Cole, Gary Slama, Jordan Wilms, and Spencer Riddell. Wayde Thorne made his way forward for sixth in front of Leo Labarbera, Allan Mattice, John Cote, and Chris Burrrows.

Chance Rogers was 11th, followed by Rick Mitchell, Rachel Mitchell, Mac Ingram, and Jamie Madsley. Several drivers failed to finish including Mike Hall, Mark Allan, Dylan Peckham, Megan Mitchell, and Mark Thorne. Jo Lawrence was disqualified while Owen Brooker did not take the green flag.

The next race night at Flamboro Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, featuring the Pro Late Models, T.Q. Can-Am Midgets crowning their 2024 champion, and Southern Ontario Modified Association (SOMA) Modifieds.
