Wet Grounds Forces Ransomville Speedway To Postpone 2023 Season Opener

Story By: STEVEN PETTY / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – The start of 65th season of racing at Ransomville Speedway will have to wait another week as persistent rain and with an unfavorable forecast most of this week, speedway management made the decision to pull the plug on Opening Night scheduled for Friday, May 5.

“With the wet weather that we had here non-stop all week, the grounds have been too saturated,” General Manager Bret Pawlak said. “We just have not had the adequate drying time to provide the drivers and fans a great racing surface,” Pawlak continued.

Opening Day will now take place on Friday, May 12. The 65th Season Opener for the Krown Undercoating Modifieds, Hy-Tech Concrete Sportsman, KiPo Motors Street Stocks, Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman, and the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks will take place at 7:15pm.

The Hy-Tech Concrete Sportsman will be racing a 20-lap feature on Opening Night in honor and memory of Kyle Inman, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Kyle raced at the Big R numerous times in both the Sportsman and 358 Modified divisions.

Pit gates will open Friday at 5:00pm, with grandstands opening at 6:00pm. Racing will begin at 7:15pm. General admission is $18 for adults, and $15 for seniors (60+ and youth). Pit admission is $35 for members and $40 for non-members.
