Dietrich Rolls To Podium Finish At Williams Grove; High Limit & OH Sprint Speedweek To Fill Coming Slate

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / DANNY DIETRICH RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – It was a roller coaster four-race stretch for Gettysburg, Pennsylvania’s Danny Dietrich, and despite a few “DNF” outcomes on his weekend stat card, one of which during Lincoln Speedway’s Steve Smith Tribute on Saturday, June 3, “Double-D” still managed to find success, eventually rallying for a podium at the world-famous paperclip on Friday, June 2.

Dietrich, who will have plenty of opportunity for redemption during the coming week and weekend, finished second in his podium performance at Williams Grove Speedway, charging ahead from eighth on the feature grid. The two-time Williams Grove Speedway track champion secured second with just five laps remaining, doing his best to track down Freddie Rahmer in traffic. Unfortunately, just as Deitrich secured second, caution flags waved giving Rahmer the clean air he needed to keep away.

As mentioned, Dietrich’s roller coaster week actually commenced with car owner Randy Gass during a High Limit Sprint Car Series start at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, on Wednesday, May 31. Dietrich was leading the $23,023-to-win program when mechanical failure occurred, collecting Myerstown’s Brent Marks in the process; Dietrich did not finish.

Adding insult to injury, Dietrich suffered from a left rear flat during action at BAPS Motor Speedway on Thursday, June 1; he did not finish and was scored 17th.

“Just one of those weekends, but we’ll recover…plenty of opportunity for redemption beginning tomorrow at Eagle Raceway,” Dietrich, driver of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, #1 Cochran Expressway, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car, said. “Anxious to get back to Ohio and compete with the All Stars during Speedweek. We had our share of success there last year. We’ll work to do it again.”

Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2023 campaign the 41st edition of Ohio Sprint Speedweek on June 9-17 featuring eight events in nine days concluding with the $22,554-to-win Dean Knittel Memorial at Portsmouth Raceway Park. Speedweek action will take the All Star Circuit of Champions to Attica Raceway Park on June 9, Fremont Speedway on June 10, Wayne County Speedway on June 11-12, Sharon Speedway on June 13, Atomic Speedway on June 15, Eldora Speedway on June 16, and Portsmouth on June 17. Wednesday’s open date will act as a potential rain date should any event prior need to utilize it.

In addition, Danny Dietrich will join car owner, Randy Gass, for another round of High Limit Sprint Car Series action at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Nebraska, on Tuesday, June 6.
